Michelle Bernard's collection of Art Dolls gives a whimsically modern nod to the age-old style of folk art. Each one is hand sculpted then decorated with layers and layers of acrylic paint for an aged, vintage look. Broken bits of jewelry, lovingly worn fabrics, and antique objects embellish the dolls in both traditional and non-traditional ways. Her organic process leaves room for spontaneity and each doll actually evolves as she creates. She loves using her imagination as the dolls come to life, for results even better than what she could have intended from the start.
